Chinese Consulate General and New York Empire State Building co-hosted the lightening ceremony on September 20, 2009 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the People’s Republic of China.
General Consul Peng Keyu presented a speech in the ceremony and expressed his appreciation to General Manager of the Empire State Building for his great support. He also presented his thanks to the American friends from all walks of life who have continuously supported the development of China and Sino-U.S. relationship. He remarked that the lightening ceremony being held at the New York Empire State Building symbolizes the friendly wishes from the American people which means a great deal to the bilateral relationship. He further addressed that after the 30-years of opening and reform policy, China has become increasingly influential in the international society. China will remain on the road of peaceful development and keep pushing forward the building-up of the harmonious world. General Consul Peng Keyu finally called for the collaborated effort by the both countries to further improve the bilateral relationship and sustain the world peace and prosperity.
The General Manager of the Empire State Building called the lightening ceremony the most honorable courtesy presented by the New York people to the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the People’s Republic of China. He said the lit-up top of Empire State Building in the red-yellow-red hues will connect the Chinese people closely with the American people.
This is the first time that the Empire State Building makes the lightening ceremony to celebrate the Chinese National Holiday. More than 20 Chinese and foreign medias reported the ceremony.
The Commercial Counselor from the Chinese Consulate General Mr.Xu Bing also attended the ceremony.
