China and the United States are the biggest developing country and the biggest developed country in the world respectively.  Since the establishment of diplomatic relationship, the two countries have become the second largest trading partners for each other.  A pattern featuring economic interdependence, mutual benefit and win-win relationship and a pattern of each having something of the other are taking shape.

The northeastern ten states of the United States hold an important position in the country’s economy.  The total GDP of the ten states amounts to 25% of the U.S. GDP.  The advantageous industries in the ten states include financial industry, service industry, information technology, bio-pharmacy, manufacture, food processing and daily chemical industry.  With the great attraction to numerous multinational companies, one third of Fortune 500 companies have already headquartered here.

After 30 years of reform and opening-up, with the national power and international competitiveness being consistently enhanced, China has become the fourth largest economy in the world, ranking third in the total of import and export and first in the foreign exchange reserves.  Following the tremendous increase of foreign investment, China has been on top of the developing countries for the amount of actually utilized foreign investment.  There still exists huge potential for the further improvement of Sino-U.S. economic and trade ties.

The Economic and Commercial Office of Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in New York aims to foster the development of economic and trade ties between China and the United States, especially between China and the ten northeastern states of the United States by strengthening the economic cooperation in the fields of trade, investment and finance, etc.  To further promote the Sino-U.S. economic and trade ties, we will be devoted to enhance the bilateral communications among the related Chinese and U.S. government agencies, industrial and commercial organizations and various companies and to provide all-round service thereof consistently.
